A quick rant on how much I hate over-produced music, music that’s meant to sound a certain way.
Sweet, quilted fabric, full of fluff and warm, I have never loved anything more.
Well, friends, it’s that time of year again. That’s right, the time of year where I tell you I’m doing something crazy like writing a novel and I’m hitting you up for support. My goal this year is a mere $50, but think of the things $50 can do for a kid who wants to write, and has nowhere else to turn. Writing is an important step in not just literacy, but in self-discovery. Plus, think of the morale you’re offering! You only need to donate $50, but I’ve gotta come up with 50,000 words that actually mean something.
So what exactly am I raising money for? The name of the organisation is The Office of Letters and Light, and their mission statement reads as follows:
We believe in ambitious acts of the imagination.
The Office of Letters and Light organizes events where children and adults find the inspiration, encouragement, and structure they need to achieve their creative potential. Our programs are web-enabled challenges with vibrant real-world components, designed to foster self-expression while building community on local and global levels.
They’re the amazing (or sick, depending on how you look at it) minds behind NaNoWriMo, or National Novel Writing Month, which challenges anyone who wants to take part to write a 50,000 word novel in 30 days. In short, they make you get the ideas out. If you’ve ever tried to write anything, you know what a godsend a challenge like this can be. They also run the Young Writers’ Program, which encourages kids from grades K-12 to get excited about writing.
I understand that times are tough but if there’s only one time of the year that you listen to my pleas, let it be November. And if you’re unable to help by donating, have no fear. Just kindly RT my page, or share it, or reblog it, or whatever else there is on the internet. Tell your friends. You never know where the next great novel is going to come from. It might even come from me.
Probably not.
But you never know.

We don’t believe in the kind of smallness that says it’s okay for a stage full of political leaders — one of whom could end up being the president of the United States — being silent when an American soldier is booed. We don’t believe in that.
We don’t believe in standing silent when that happens. We don’t believe in them being silent since. You want to be commander in chief? You can start by standing up for the men and women who wear the uniform of the United States, even when it’s not politically convenient. We don’t believe in a small America. We believe in a big America — a tolerant America, a just America, an equal America — that values the service of every patriot.

Repeated playing of Dragon Age has finally deteriorated my psychological condition. When I did the math (by my calculations, I’ve put 430 hours into the series so far) I was surprised the decline hadn’t begun sooner. Nevertheless, the vivid, unpleasant dreams were an unexpected side effect, to be sure, but my dedicated research will have to continue.
…Tell my husband I love him.
Tentatively,

New blag by me! On migraines, pain, and hope for a better understanding of a prevalent and poorly-represented condition.
Paperclippe - Family/The Lark (Dar Williams/Kate Rusby cover)
I guess you could call this an acoustic mashup. Most of the song is “Family” but the ‘bridge’ (“Oh how it’s cold; will you let me in?”) is the chorus of Kate Rusby’s “The Lark.”
This idea spurred by having an earworm where I was replacing the lyrics of one of these songs for the other and found I could do it easily back and forth.
Guys I am so bad at the guitar.
(Live take; no multitrack here. Not patient enough today.)
So you guys may not know this, but I’ve been known to act from time to time. I’m working with Sinister Dream, a production company founded by my dear friend Nick Kizina. The current project is a webseries called Nevermore, a dark comedy inspired by the macabre tales of Edgar Allan Poe.
If you donate a dollar - yes, just a single buck - you’ll receive a set of ten Sinister Dream stickers! And who doesn’t love stickers? That’s right. No one doesn’t love stickers. And the more you give, the better stuff you’ll receive.
If you can’t donate right now, just retweet/reblog/repost the link. And trust me when I say I will appreciate every last one of those reposts.

Thanks!
